Obituary for Kenneth D Cunningham

Kenneth D. Cunningham, 95, of Lake Placid went to be with his Lord on Wednesday afternoon November 11, 2015, at his residence. A native of Tampa, Florida, Mr. Cunningham was born on July 10, 1920. He served his country with honors in the US Army Air Corp (or Air Force) as a B-24 pilot during WWII and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal. He was the son of Florence Woodard and step-son of Edward Cunningham.

Mr. Cunningham was a retired mechanical engineer in the air conditioning industry and was the owner of Cunningham and Associates in South Florida. After retiring, Mr. Cunningham moved to Lake Placid and was a member of the First Assembly of God Lake Placid.

He attended Spring Arbor Junior College before joining the Army Air Force and afterward attended Tri State College in Angola, IN, where he received his degree in mechanical engineering.

Mr. Cunningham is preceded in death by his loving wife Maria and is survived by his loving daughter Kris Peterson of Bradenton, FL, grandchildren Traci Peterson of Charleston, SC, Dr. Trudi Peterson of Monmouth, IL, and great granddaughter Kelsey Gnade of Charleston, SC.

A funeral service to celebrate Mr. Cunningham’s life will be held 3:00 PM Monday November 17, 2015, at the First Assembly of God Lake Placid, 329 Plumosa Street, Lake Placid, with Rev. Johnny Bryant officiating. A gathering for family and friends will be held one hour prior to service times. Mr. Cunningham will be laid to rest next to his wife Maria at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, November 18, 2015, at the Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, Tampa, FL.
