Obituary for Richard W. Fletcher

Richard W Fletcher passed away in Lake Placid, Florida on April 5, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Dick was born August 4, 1920 to Frank H. & Gertrude W. Fletcher in Earlville, NY. He was raised on a farm and went on to successfully establish and manage Fletcher Farms in Earlville raising cattle & crops. He will be remembered in particular for growing and selling potatoes. He was an honest man who raised a family and ran a business with integrity, character and hard work. Richard was quick with a smile and above all else, he treasured his family. His happiest times were spent in laughter with his close family and friends. He enjoyed music, a good joke, playing cards, bowling, water-skiing, woodworking and working in the woodlot. He had a particular fondness for homemade cookies and pies. For 37 years, Dick enjoyed his winters in Lake Placid, Florida. Richard was predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years, Florence (Flossie) Webb Fletcher, his son, Ronald Fletcher, his first-born grandchild, Krystin Corneilson and his brother, Donald Fletcher. He is survived by his friend and fiancée Dorothy Geer Lehman, his daughters Joyce Fletcher (Hank) Miles, Blanche Fletcher (Everett) Swaim and Trudy Fletcher (Andy Pederson) along with his grandchildren Bobby Wicks, Kelli Cairns, Frank Fletcher and Luke Fletcher, 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his best friend, Uncle Ray (Evelyn) Webb of San Diego, CA. A Memorial service will be held in Earlville at the convenience of the family.
