Thomas U. Jackson, Jr., 86, a native of Lake Placid went to be with his Lord on Monday evening December 22, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Jackson was born on June 18, 1928 to parents Mamie (Hays) and Thomas U. Jackson, Sr. After graduating from Lake Placid High School, Mr. Jackson went into the citrus industry and along with his wife JoAnna, developed and owned Paradise Mobile Village until his retirement in 2007. Mr. Jackson was a Methodist by faith. Mr. Jackson was Lake Placid Pioneer Man of the Year in 2001, a past Lake Placid Town Council member and Highlands County Zoning Board member and a charter member of the Highlands County Sheriff Rescue Unit. He was a member of the NRA, AOPA and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Mr. Jackson was a avid outdoorsman who enjoyed all outdoor activities including hunting and fishing and loved spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Jackson is survived by his loving wife of 64 years JoAnna; daughter, Lynn Stanley; son, Thomas U. Jackson, III (Terry); 4 grandchildren, Kristin and Jessie Stanley, Tyler (Jennifer) and Garrett Jackson; 5 great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Macy, Colby, Leland and Rylee and sister, Nan Eide. A funeral service to celebrate Mr. Jackson’s life will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, December 27, 2014 with a visitation for family and friends one hour prior to services at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid, FL with Rev. Tim Haas officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lake Placid.
