Mrs. Voncile Dora Purviance, 92, of Sebring passed peacefully to her rest at her residence on Sunday morning June 21, 2015. The daughter of Mattie Lou (nee Rotton) and George Washington Petty, Mrs. Purviance was born on March 9, 1923 in Covington County, Alabama.Mrs. Purviance was a retired school teacher in both the public and the Seventh-Day Adventist private school systems. She and her late husband, Frank, moved to Okeechobee in 1969 before then moving to Highlands County where they were long time residents of Venus. Mrs. Purviance was a member of the Lake Placid Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She was an avid reader who enjoyed studying her Bible and solving cross word puzzles. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially with her grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and great-great- grandchildren. Mrs. Purviance was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters and is survived by her loving daughters, Theresa Meehan (Eddie) of Drisseog, Athboy, Ireland and Karlee Sue Hasan of Sebring; 4 granddaughters, Erin Garcia Deel (John) of Sebring, Shawna Garcia Schaeffer (Robert), Siobhana Garcia Watson (Jim) of Lake Placid and Laurie Hasan of Oviedo; 9 great-grandchildren, Zachary Lloyd, Sr. of Tennessee, Britney Lloyd Marcus (Tyler) of Sebring, Emily Lloyd of Orlando, Nathaniel Lloyd, Cheyenne, Savannah and Memphis Deel, and Jerry and Lyndsi Watson; 4 great-great grandchildren, Zachary Jr. and Emma Lloyd and Aedan and Korbin Marcus; and a sister, Lois Knutsen of California and many loving nieces and nephews near and far.vA Memorial Celebration of Mrs. Purviance’s life will be held next Saturday at her granddaughter Shawna Schaeffer's home in Lake Placid.
