Obituary for Aulie T. "AT" Carter Jr.

Aulie T. “AT” Carter, Jr., 81 of Lake Placid passed away Saturday evening December 26, 2015 at the Florida Hospital Lake Placid. He was one of eight children, the son of Sampie Lou Bennett and Aulie T. Carter, Sr., who was born on November 25, 1934 in Cook County, Georgia.

The son of a farmer, AT, started working on the farm at an early age, becoming a self made man. Mr. Carter moved to Florida in 1979 from Hahira, Georgia. He was the owner of Carter Construction Company building houses throughout South Georgia. Mr. Carter retired from Lykes Brothers where he helped in many of the construction projects in several counties. Mr. Carter enjoyed computers, tinkering, and wood work who loved to be around his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 plus years Betty; daughters, Becki Williams (Kenny) and Cindy Mercer (Lee); sons, Ronnie (Sandra) and Keith (Julie) Carter; eight grandchildren, Ron, Jason, Heather, Kristopher, Kevin, Travis, Mikayla, Lily; six great-grandchildren, Austin, Kaleb, Miranda, Caden, Ava, Karson; and three sisters, Louelle Bass, Ethelle Fryar, and Linda Nelson.

A funeral service to celebrate AT’s life will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 30, 2015 with a visitation for family and friends one hour prior to service time at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid with Chaplain Jonathan Mercill officiating. Entombment will follow services at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lake Placid.
