Obituary for Robert W. "Bobby" Wherry

Mr. Robert “Bobby” William Wherry, 61, of Lake Placid went to be with his Lord on Sunday afternoon February 7, 2016 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Sebring.

Bobby was the son of James and Dorothy Wherry and was born in Lakeland, FL on July 16, 1954. Bobby and his family moved to Lake Placid 25 years ago. Bobby graduated from Polk College then attended the University of Florida. Bobby worked for FJ Nugent in the waste water pump sales. An avid Nascar fan, Bobby enjoyed hunting, fishing, mountain vacations and loved to be with his family and friends. Bobby was of the Presbyterian faith.

He was preceded in death by his father James Irwin Wherry Jr.; mother Dorothy (Williamson) Wherry. Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 34 ½ years Lori (Leis) Wherry; daughter Carlyn M. (Ramiro) Barajas; sons, Dustin R. Wherry and Tyler W. Wherry of Lake Placid, FL.; 4 grandchildren; sister, Jane A. (Jody) Sisson of Lakeland FL. and 2 brothers, James I. (Dianne) Wherry III of Lakeland, FL. and Stephen R. (Cindy) Wherry of Melbourne, FL.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM on Friday, February 12, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church Oak St, Lake Placid with Pastor Terry Morris officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial gifts in Bobby’s name to American Cancer Society at: donate.cancer.org.
