Obituary for William J "Bill" Ambrose

William J. Ambrose, 89, of Lake Placid passed away peacefully after a short illness early Thursday morning September 15, 2016 at the Vitas Hospice in Sebring. Bill was the son of Jane Moore and Hugh Ambrose and was born at Portavogie, Northern Ireland on June 24, 1927. Bill was a retired wood model maker in the automotive industry. During his career he worked for several car manufacturers. A resident of Lake Placid for the past 11 years, he moved here with his wife Audrey from Englewood. He was previously a resident of Michigan and Toronto, where he met and married his lovely wife Audrey (who is originally from Australia). He was a devoted husband and loving father. Bill enjoyed many outdoor activities including fishing, boating and gardening around the house. One of life’s truly good guys, he was caring, thoughtful, and always put others before himself. Bill was a member of the Wood Workers Union and was of the Christian faith. He is preceded in death by his son, Gary and a sister, Carol. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Audrey; daughter, Joni Brengman (Robert); two grandsons, Matthew and Curtis; two brothers, Maurice Ambrose and Robert Ambrose (Roseanne). A family service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held at a later date in Michigan. Words of comfort to the family can be made by visiting www.scottfuneralservices.com.
