Obituary for
Robert E. Porter
Robert E. Porter, 83, of Lake Placid, went to be with his Lord on Friday evening September 16, 2016 at the Vitas Hospice in Sebring. Robert, born on October 15, 1933, was the son of Ruth Detweiler and Harold Porter of Lansdale, PA.
Robert served his country in the Pennsylvania National Guard. Robert owned and operated the local pharmacy in Hatfield, PA. After retiring, Robert and his wife Harriet moved to Lake Placid in 1982.
An avid fisherman, Robert enjoyed fishing the local lakes of Highlands County. Together he and his wife Harriet rode their Gold Wing motorcycle all over the United States and Canada. Robert was very active in the community where he and his wife founded the Lake Placid Mural Society which now boasts 47 historic murals. The Caladium Arts and Crafts Co-op was also his brainchild. Robert loved spending time with his family and his many friends in the community.
Mr. Porter is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Harriet; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Kathy Porter; grandchildren, Christina and Caleb; and a great granddaughter, Channing.
