Obituary for John G. Vogt

John G. Vogt, 89, of Lake Placid went to be with his Lord on Friday morning, November 25, 2016 at the Florida Hospital Lake Placid. John was the son of Amelia Schber and John E. Vogt who was born in Washington County, IL on April 4, 1927. Mr. Vogt served his country with honors in the US Army. After his service to his country, John went to work with the Chicago Transit Authority as a bus driver. John loved his job, each day was an adventure, meeting new riders, many times becoming like extended family members. After retiring he and his wife Pauline moved to Lake Placid 28 years ago. John enjoyed fishing and gardening and loved to be with his family and friends. John is preceded in death by his loving son, Kevin and is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Pauline; son, Scott Vogt; daughters, Denise Compton, Pamela Mielnicki and JoAnn Cerveny; 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren with one on the way. A service to celebrate John’s life will be held 3:00 PM, Saturday, December 17, 2016 at the Trinity Lutheran Church 25 Lakeview Street, Lake Placid 33852 with Rev. Richard Norris officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church at the above address. Military will be presented by the US Army.
