Obituary for Nola C. Ayers (Downey)

Nola C. Ayers, 73, of Lake Placid, Florida and Davenport, Iowa went to be with the Lord on Wednesday evening, January 25, 2017 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Sebring, Florida. She was born on September 21, 1943 to Edward and Naomi Downey near Illinois City, Illinois and united in marriage to Michael Ayers on March 7, 1969. Nola was of the Lutheran faith. Nola was the office manager of the family-owned real estate business for over forty years. For the past several years Mike and Nola thoroughly enjoyed being winter residents of Lake Placid. Nola was a very generous and loving person who will be missed by her extended family and many friends. She enjoyed a good game of golf (except for those pesky sand traps), playing cards, bingo, and spending time at the local casinos. Nola is survived by her loving husband of 47 years Michael; sons, Donald and wife Tamera; Douglas and wife Michelle; brothers Clark Downey and wife Pat, Bill Downey and wife Lois; sister, Nancy Weber and husband Jim, and sister-in-law Barbara Downey. Nola was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Naomi, and brothers Patrick, Jerry, Steven, and Chet. A service to celebrate Nola’s life will be held at a later date in Davenport, IA.
