Obituary for Mildred Jean "Jean" Jones

Mildred Jean "Jean" Jones
Mildred “Jean” Jones, 92, of Lake Placid went to be with her Lord early Wednesday morning May 10, 2017 at the Southern Lifestyles Senior Living facility in Lake Placid. Jean was born October 30, 1924 to Lenora Gregg & Leonard Furgason in Tecumseh, Michigan. A resident of Lake Placid for more than 60 years, Jean was best known for driving bus #52 with the Highlands County Public School System. Her standard of being on time carried over into her personal life as she was known to arrive at events several hours early. Jean enjoyed driving her family to different events, working in the school cafeteria, spending time tending to her yard, sewing and crocheting. She thoroughly loved spending time with her family and friends especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jean is preceded in death by her loving husband Charles; her sons, Earl, Leonard and Johnny and 10 of her 11 siblings. She is survived by her devoted son Russell; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) Baumeister, Brody (Taylor) Jones, Jeremy (Amy Reed) Jones, Jimbo Jones and five great grandchildren (Dylan, Madison, Abbey, Brandon and Lexi). A funeral service to celebrate Jean’s long and extraordinary life will be held Monday, May 15, 2017 at the Scott Funeral Home, 504 W. Interlake Blvd. Visitation will begin at 10am with a service following at 11am. Jean will be laid to rest next to her husband Charles following the service at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family appreciates the love and prayers surrounding them during this time.
