Obituary for Richard W. Allen

Richard W. Allen, 73, of Lake Placid went home to be with his Lord early Monday morning June 5, 2017 at the Vitas Hospice in Sebring. A native Miamian, Richard was the son of Mildred (Shields) and Raymond Allen who was born on June 10, 1943. Richard served his country with honors in the US Air Force. After his service to his country, Richard continued his career both as a reservist and civil service employee as a mechanic with the US Air Force stationed at the Homestead Air Force Base. After thirty three years of service Richard retired and moved to Lake Placid in 1995. Richard was a member of the St. James Catholic Church, American Legion Placid Post 25, VFW Post 3880 and the Lake Placid Moose Lodge. Richard enjoyed fishing the waters around Miami where he grew up as well as here in Highlands County. He also enjoyed singing karaoke when ever he had the chance. He loved to be with his family and friends especially his two grandchildren. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Patricia, children; Catherine M. Allen and Richard J. Allen (Carmen), two grandchildren; Gavin and Cianna, sister; Joy Bean (Gary) and a brother Steve Allen (Lisa). A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Richard’s life will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the St. James Catholic Church 3880 Placid View Drive, Lake Placid with Father Anthonio Jean officiating. Military honors will be provided by the US Air Force Honor Guard from MacDill Air Force Base.
