Obituary for Dorothy Marie Deuel

Dorothy Marie Deuel, 98, of Lake Placid went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday morning, June 20, 2017, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Sebring. Mrs. Deuel was the daughter of Mary Jane Otto and Howard Goodman and was born on June 29, 1918 in North Huntingdon, PA. Her late husband, Bernard, served in the US Air Force. She moved to Lake Placid in 1964 from Fayetteville, NC after Bernard’s retirement from the Air Force. In 1970 they moved to Tropical Harbor in Lake Placid. Mrs. Deuel was a member of the Lake Placid Red Hat Society and the First Presbyterian Church Lake Placid and became very active in the activities and events at the club house in Tropical Harbor. Dorothy enjoyed sewing, playing cards, dominos, a good game of bingo and working crossword puzzles. She also was a great shuffleboard player. She loved being with her family and friends especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Deuel is survived by her loving children; Inez Hosford (Robert), Shirley Fisher (Charles) and Lee Deuel (Kathy), 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, a brother Karl and a sister Sarah. A service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, June 23, 2017 at the Scott Funeral Home, 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid with Rev. Ray Cameron officiating. Mrs. Deuel will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Florida Nation VA Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
