Gloria Louise Vaughn
Gloria Louise Vaughn, 91, of Lake Placid went home to be with her Lord early Sunday morning July 16, 2017 at the Southern Lifestyles ALF in Lake Placid, FL. The oldest of sixteen children, Gloria was born to Helen (Sargent) and Lawrence Dixon on June 24, 1926 in Corning, NY. She has been a resident of Lake Placid since 2007 moving here from Gainesville, FL. Mrs. Vaughn was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Placid. She enjoyed reading, crafting, painting, baking and spending time with her family and friends especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Vaughn is preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years Gerald T. Vaughn, Sr., daughter Deta Vaughn Waller, twin sons Gerald T. Vaughn Jr. and Thomas R. Vaughn, brothers: Harold, Lawrence, Gary and sisters: Virginia and Janice. She is survived by her loving, grandchildren; Dr. James P. Waller Jr. (Christie) and Travis Vaughn (Jasmine), 3 great-granddaughters; Deta, Hannah and Jameson Waller, brothers: Theodore and Richard and sisters: Barbara, Doris, Marlene, Judy, Dianne and Penny. A Celebration of Life luncheon will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Lake Placid on Sunday, August 20th, 2017 at 12:30 pm. in Friendship Hall. Mrs. Vaughn will be laid to rest with her husband at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Orlando. In lieu of flowers donations to First Presbyterian Church of Lake Placid Genesis Center kitchen fund would be greatly appreciated.
