Obituary for Benjamin H. "Ben" Vaughn

Benjamin Harrison Vaughn, 88, passed away this week in Lake Placid. Except for his tour of duty in Korea, where he served with the First Calvary, he was a lifelong resident of Florida. He raised three daughters with his wife of 50 years, Arlene. He was a conservationist, who sought and was talented enough to capture the unique beauty of the state through photography. Ben ensured that his appreciation of the outdoors was passed onto his beloved children, three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Ben also enjoyed gardening, focusing on bonsai and bromeliads, and was active in the Lake Placid Art League. He is survived by his three loving daughters; Deborah Redwood, Barbara Tyburczy, and Susan Fromm, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. In keeping with Benjamin’s wishes, services will be private for the family. He will be laid to rest next to Arlene at the Oak Hill Cemetery.
