Obituary for Stephan W. Starbird

Stephan W. Starbird, 74, of Lake Placid went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at his residence. Stephan was born on August 2, 1943 in Apopka, FL to parents Lucile (Greenleaf) and Sherwood P. Starbird. Stephan served his country with honors in the US Navy. He worked as a licensed electrician most of his life. He moved to Homestead, FL after hurricane Andrew to help restore power to the area hit the hardest. Thereafter, he worked as a heavy equipment mechanic until he retired and moved to Lake Placid in November 2006. Stephan was of the Baptist faith. He had a kind heart, always helping others. Stephan enjoyed working on just about any type of machinery and custom building/making various things, as there was very little he could not fix or create. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Mary. Stephan is survived by his loving daughter Michelle Santos, stepsons Harry Warner and Cliff Warner, 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Also his brother Sherwood Starbird and sisters Sandy Averett and Susan Wissman. In keeping with Stephan’s wishes, services to celebrate his life will be kept private for the family only.
