Donald Sansoussi “Don”, 78, of Lake Placid went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday morning November 7, 2017 at the Florida Hospital Lake Placid. Don was born to Aaron and Catherine Sansoussi on February 3, 1939 in Boston, Massachusetts. Don served his country with honors retiring from the United States Air Force with twenty years of service. After retiring from the Air Force, Don took his knowledge as a radio communication technician and started his business “Don’s TV Service” in Lake Placid from which he retired several years ago. Don was active in the community and as a member of the Lake Placid Chamber of Commerce was on its original Beautify Lake Placid Committee. He was also a Past President of Noon Rotary. He was a Past Exalted Ruler of Sebring Elks Lodge and was instrumental in starting the Lake Placid Elks Lodge, being its first Exalted Ruler. He was heavily involved in the Elks at the Lodge level, District level and State level, becoming State President of the Florida State Elks Association in 2006. He remained active in all levels until his death. Don enjoyed playing golf and loved being around his family and friends. Don is survived by his loving wife Gail, son Jeff and his wife Paula, granddaughters Stephanie and Brittany and great granddaughter Baylee. There will be a Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks service 1:00 PM, Sunday, November 19, 2017 at the Lake Placid Elks Lodge 2661, 200 CR 621 Lake Placid, FL. The family suggests donations in Don’s memory to the Florida State Association Harry Anna Trust Fund PO Box 49 Umatilla, FL 32784-0049, his favorite charity, which handles the Florida Elks Children’s Therapy Service and the Florida Elks Youth Camp.
