David L. Asmus, 73, of Lake Placid went to be with his Lord on Wednesday evening April 22, 2015 at his residence.

David was the son of Martha (McKnight) and Leslie Asmus and was born on September 26, 1941 in Niagara Falls, NY. David served his country in the US Army during Vietnam receiving many awards including the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. After being honorably discharged from the service, David began a career as an office sales manager in the chemical industry, and also owned a restaurant in Connecticut. After retiring, David became a winter resident of Lake Placid for the past several years traveling back to Michigan during the summer months. David was of the Lutheran faith. He enjoyed boating, restoring antique furniture, working around the house, and working on anything mechanical.

David loved to be around his family and friends. He was a member of the American Legion on Michigan. Mr. Asmus is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Pat; brother Robert Asmus and extended family members and friends.

A funeral service to celebrate David’s life will be held 11:00 AM Saturday (today) April 25, 2015, at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid with Rev. Richard Norris officiating. Military honors will be presented by the US Army. A visiting for family and friends will be held one hour prior to service time. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made in David’s memory to the American Cancer Society 3709 West Jetton Ave., Tampa, FL 33629-5146.
