Lamar Allen O’Neill, 64, of Lake Placid went to be with The Lord on Tuesday morning November 8, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 3, 1947 in Kissimmee, FL to parents George and Alice (Hecker) O’Neill. Lamar served his country in the US Navy during Vietnam, after being discharged from the service he started O’Neill’s Trucking Company. He moved to Lake Placid 35 years ago from Davenport, FL and continued operating his company from Lake Placid. Mr. O’Neill was a member of the American Legion, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. O’Neill enjoyed outdoor activities, loved spending time with both his family and friends. Mr. O’Neill is survived by his wife; Rosa, loving children; Peggy Bradley (Jon), Nona Taylor (Chris), Lamar Allen O’Neill, Jr. and Vance Allen O’Neill (Monica), grandchildren; Heath, Alexis and Victoria Bowart, Vance Allen, Jr. and Alexandra O’Neill, brother; George “Billy” O’Neill, Jr., sister; Violet O’Neill and a very dear friend Carolyn Ellis. A service to celebrate Lamar’s life will be held 2:00 PM on Sunday November 20, 2011 at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid with Pastor Darryl George celebrating.
