Gloria Eileen Notaro, 84, of Lake Placid, Florida, passed on to eternal life on Tuesday morning September 15, 2015 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 19, 1931 in St. Anthony, Newfoundland, to Juanita Fenimore and Albert Tucker. On July 24, 1955 she married Anthony Notaro, and they made their home in NY, until moving to Lake Placid in 1991.
Gloria was a long time member of the St. James Catholic Church in Lake Placid, the Lake Placid Garden Club and the Leisure Lakes Womens Club. She volunteered for many years at the Florida Hospital Lake Placid. She was an avid golfer who enjoyed fishing, gardening, arts and crafts and won many blue ribbon awards for her knitting and baking at the fairs. Gloria loved to travel and spend time with both her family and friends.
Gloria was greatly loved by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Gladys and brother Joe and her loving son Leslie Simms. Her memory will be carried on and cherished by her family including her husband of 60 years and best friend Anthony; sons, Tony Notaro and wife JoAnn, Peter Notaro and wife Diane; daughters, Patricia Mahony and husband Todd, Elizabeth Lofreddo and husband David, Valerie Simms, wife of Leslie: Fourteen Grandchildren, Five Great-grandchildren and her sisters Charlotte and Pearl.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Gloria’s life will be held at 11:00am on October 5th at the St. James Catholic Church, 3380 Placid View Drive, Lake Placid with Father Michael Cannon officiating. There will be a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Gloria’s memory to the Good Shepherd Hospice, 3450 Lakeland Hills Blvd., Lakeland, FL 33805.
