Life Story for Catherine F. "Kathy" Lane

Catherine F. Lane, “Kathy” 87, of Lake Placid, FL passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2017 after a long battle with cancer and other health issues. Kathy was born on September 16, 1929 in Cooperstown, NY to Frederick Delos Lake and Fannie Belle Martin, Kathy formerly lived in Epsom, NH before making Lake Placid her home for the last several years. On April 25, 1962 in Las Vegas, Nevada, she married the love of her life, Wilbert F. Lane. For nearly 50 years together, until his death in February 2012, they spent time together building his welding business in Epsom, NH, traveling when they could and enjoying life together. Kathy's work history varied from waitressing, working in the insurance business in NH to learning how to operate heavy construction machinery then becoming the bookkeeper for her husband's business. Kathy is predeceased by her parents, two sisters and the love of her life. Survivors include her sister Margaret Higgins from Sydney, NY, two Sons, Walter Gray and Daniel Gray from NY, many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends, along with her very good, long-time friends, Ken and Betty Walker of Epsom, NH and her neighbors, Eugenio and Esther Rodriquez. These folks were kind, caring and supportive, no matter what was asked of them. We will be forever grateful for all their acts of kindness. Kathy enjoyed the game of golf for many years, she also enjoyed baseball, horse racing and country music. She loved to entertain, feeding the birds, shopping, gardening, cooking, baking, travel, chocolate and ice cream.
Kathy requested her services be private with a burial at the Oak Hill Cemetery, at the convenience of the family. Please no flowers. If you desire to make a donation, one could be made to USGA for golf education for youth, or to the Multiple Myeloma Foundation or Alzheimer's/Dementia Association.
