Obituary for Michael A. O'Riordan

Michael A. O’Riordan, 78, of Lake Placid, FL went to be with his Lord on Monday morning, February 20, 2017 at the Highlands Regional Medical Center in Sebring. Michael was the son of Florence Burgess and Michael J. O’Riordan who was born in Chicago, IL. He graduated from St. Rita high school in Chicago. He earned a basketball scholarship to attend Murray State College in Kentucky where he set numerous records on a basketball court. After college Michael taught school and coached basketball in Kentucky. Michael was drafted into the US Army and served his country with honors. After his discharge Michael went to work in the insurance industry as an insurance adjuster in South Florida. After retiring, Michael moved to Lake Placid. He has been a resident of Lake Placid for 17 years. Michael had a passion for sports, trains, motorcycles, corvettes and a love for animals. Michael enjoyed life to the fullest and he loved to be with his family and his friends. He is survived by his loving son, David; sisters: Sheila Bradford and Ellyn O’Riordan and brother, Kevin O’Riordan; nephews and nieces: Eric Cotrofeld, Ryan, Kelly, and Megan O’Riordan, James and Michael Ricketts and his two dogs, Squiggly and Oliver. A service to celebrate Michael’s life will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid.
