Charles Edwin Colley, 84, of Lake Placid passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017 in his home. Charles was born June 28, 1932 to Charles Colley and Evelyn Hall Freelove in Friendship, New York. A resident of Lake Placid for 33 years, Charles was a Lifetime Member of the Lake Placid BPOE Lodge 2661. He was an enthusiastic golfer and a skilled woodworker who also enjoyed fishing and shooting with friends and family. Charles was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran who served during the Korean War.
Charles is survived by his wife of 56 years, Frances McCoy Colley, sons Timothy, James (Susan), Charles (Kristine), and Christopher (Mandy), and eight grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters Carolyn Kellogg (John) and Shirley Goodridge (Harold), brother Terry Freelove (Loretta), along with several nieces and nephews. Charles was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Phyllis Lyauty.
There will be visitations at Scott’s Funeral Home in Lake Placid on Thursday, May 18th at 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 19th, at 11:00am at St. James Church in Lake Placid. Following the Mass, a luncheon will be served at the church social hall.
The family appreciates the love and prayers surrounding them during this time. A special thank you to the wonderful people at Cornerstone Hospice for all their loving care.
