Obituary for
Terry Lee McKamey
Terry Lee McKamey, 78, of Lake Placid went home to be with his Lord on Sunday afternoon, July 2, 2017, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Sebring. Terry, the son of Leo and Alice McKamey, was born on October 31, 1938 in Mishawaka, Indiana.
He served his country with honors in the United States Marine Corps Reserves.
Terry started his career with Publix Super Market working his way up to manager. He moved to Lake Placid in 1982 from Bradenton and continued working for Publix as manager at the Lake Placid store until his retirement. Terry was of the Christian faith and a member of the Lake Placid Moose Lodge and the American Legions Placid Post 25.
He enjoyed many outdoor activities including hunting and fishing. Terry loved to spend time with his family, friends and grandchildren. Terry is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara and is survived by his best friend and roommate Violet Shelton, his loving children Vickie Clark, Kim McKamey, Kathy Blake, Karen Belany and Terry McKamey Jr., 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and sister Audry Ruth
A service to celebrate Terry’s life will be held August 26, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Leisure Lake Baptist Church, 808 Gardenia Street, Lake Placid, FL with Rev. Don Roberts officiating. After the service a post funeral reception and luncheon will held at Tropical Harbor Estates clubhouse at 12:00 noon located at 27 Rickert Dr, Lake Placid, FL 33852.
