Obituary for Thelma L. White

Thelma L. White, 81, of Lake Placid, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday evening January 11, 2018 at the Highlands Regional Medical Center in Sebring. Thelma was the daughter of Ruth (Givens) and Clyde Lusby who was born on March 9, 1937 in Knoxville, TN. Thelma lived in Miami for many years, and then moved to Lake Placid in 2002. After arriving in Lake Placid Thelma started a career with the Publix Supermarket and becoming a school bus driver for the Highlands County Schools. Thelma enjoyed cooking, her sweets, especially making her famous fudge, driving the local children to and from school each day and seeing her friends at Publix. Thelma loved to spend time with both her family and church family. Thelma was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Placid. She is survived by her loving sisters; Dorothy Amburn (Gordon) and Barbara Templin, a brother; William David Lusby (Bea) and many nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate Thelma’s life will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, January 19, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Lake Placid 119 E. Royal Palm Street, Lake Placid with Pastors Keith Campbell, Paul von Merveldt and Mike Ford officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lake Placid.
